Jan NilsenMy quilting journey began when I was asked to put together twelve quilt blocks for my boss’ retirement—one from each member of the team. I’d taken lots of arts and crafts classes, but this project got me interested in quilting. Once I took a class on landscape and art quilts, I was hooked. Most recently I am interested in creating quilts that make a statement on issues important to me, such as the planet, friendship, women’s issues, etc. These issues can be weighty, so I also try to include some humor. I like fusing and playing with free motion quilting.
